System Components
Louvre:
The core of the Vergola system consists of a double skinned, hollow section made of either precoated, superior-quality Australian sheet metal, BHP zincalume colorbond steel, which durability and strength has been tested to withstand cyclonic conditions. The technology of the louvres faced unmatched competition from either single skin louvres or aluminium extruded louvres (in cost for instance). Louvres provide a thermal insulation of 3.0 W/M2K. The difference in temperature creates a natural circulation inside the ventilated louvres and in between the louvres, even in stand still weather. The air curculation generates an air buffer working such as an insulation layer which stops the head transmission through the louvres. The whole system becomes a unique, inuslated and ventilated roof. Standard finish of louvres is pre-painted steel from BHP, tested for corrosion to 1,000 hours of neutral salt spray or polyester powder coat for other materials. There are presently two standard BHP colorbond colors available: smooth cream and off-white. Each louvre covers 200MM width; 5 louvres span 1 meter across. The maximum louvre length is 3.6 meters (12 feet). The structural weight of the louvres ranges from 10 to 16.5 kg/M2.
End Cap:
Each louvre consists of two end caps. A solid aluminium casting enables the trouble free rotation of the louvres to the frame. Louvres rotate from fully closed to a maximum opening of 150°.
Pivot Strip and Link Bar:
The louvres are attached to a pivot strip by articulated end caps made of cast aluminium. Pivot Strip and Link Bar are high precision computer punched components made to accommodate the end caps and transmit movement to the louvres.
Motor/Switch/Control Box and Rain Sensor:
An efficient and durable 12V DC motor drive powered by battery and trickle charger for either 220V or 110V supply ensures the movement of the louvres opening at 140 °. The system can be equipped with either a manual switch or remote control. In addition, the rain sensor allows automatic closing at the start of rain, and then reopening at a preset position after the drying up. The whole driving mechanism is very simple with minimal wear on components. One motor can operate a module up to 3.60 meters (maximum span of louvres) x 6.00 meters. One rain sensor (or a photo cell, smoke detector or wind detector) can command up to 8 modules with a standard control box. Control boxes used for automatic features such as the rain sensors include the transformer/charger, battery, switch and power points connectors.
Packaging:
The Vergola system components are supplied packed and ready to use. Louvers are cut to specific length(s) inclusive of their fitted end caps and are ready for installation.
All other items are ready for assembly and electrical connections.
